Beautiful new oncology area at Kingston Hospital
We have recently completed our latest fundraising project in the Paediatric Department at Kingston Hospital, which is a specific, purpose-designed clinical area, devoted to the safe and efficient administration of chemotherapy. The aim is to protect children from the risk of contracting infection inadvertently from other children and to minimise the disruption to their families’ lives by streamlining their visit to receive chemotherapy.
The new centre will be used by both the local and wider community and will offer children with cancer and their families the best possible care available. The centre includes a two-bedded unit with a special waiting and reception area. A great deal of thought was given to the design of the area to ensure that it is both comfortable and relaxing. The idea implemented through its design has been to soften the usual clinical hospital environment, whilst maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence.
(This project was be funded entirely by Momentum as all available hospital funds will be used to provide the increased demand for oncology staff needed to service this new area.)
Momentum raised in excess of £50,000 to help support this special project which will make a significant difference to all our children with cancer and their families. The centre was designed by Amanda Leggatt and built by local builders O'Neill's. It was generously supported by The Taylor Family Foundation, Team TROTT Ibstock Place School, Millfest 2010, Lazard London.
