Donation from Hampton Court Model Yacht Club
Hampton Court Model Yacht Club raised £150 for Momentum on a chilly and blustery day on 28th December. Their Secretary, Laurie Bower sent us this report:
With the wind varying from 14 to 24 mph - 14 skippers from 7 clubs had entered the competition and, after a briefing on the day’s schedule, racing commenced at 10.15am.
A demanding “triangle and a sausage” course had been set as the wind was blowing straight down the lake in the most favourable SSW direction. After the first few races it became clear that the skippers to watch out for were Colin Trower and Dave Andrews (HCMYC) closely followed by Martin Crysell (Guildford) and Mike Adams (Eastbourne) with Vernon Appleton (Coal House Fort) and Peter Popham (3 Rivers) never far behind.
With only minor adjustments to the course being necessary throughout the day, a total of 15 races were sailed at the end of which prizes were presented to the first 5 skippers as follows:
1st – Colin Trower (Hampton Court MYC) – 22pts
2nd – Dave Andrews (Hampton Court MYC) – 30pts
3rd – Martin Crysell (Guildford MYC) – 38pts
4th – Mike Adams (Eastbourne & District MYC) – 46pts
5th – Vernon Appleton (Coal House Fort MYC) – 47pts
Other positions were as follows:
6th – Peter Popham (3 Rivers RYC) – 55pts
7th – Terry Colson (Hampton Court MYC) – 69pts
8th – Colin Honour (Swanley MYC) – 88pts
9th – Keith Tyson (Eastbourne & District MYC) – 92pts
10th – Hugh McAdoo (Guildford MYC) – 113pts
11th – Ian Davies (Poole RYC) – 125pts
12th – Gordon Beddall (Hampton Court MYC) – 127pts
13th – Martin Shaw (Hampton Court MYC) – 149pts
14th – Geoff Appleton (Coal House Fort MYC) – 171pts
We are pleased to say that, through the generosity of the skippers, race officials and others, £150 was raised for ‘Momentum’.
