Top Trip to Mamma Mia!

Top Trip to Mamma Mia!

Momentum was thrilled recently to be able to offer tickets to top West End show Mamma Mia! to one of our teenagers who suffers from a life-limiting condition.  This is the story of her exciting day out:

In late September, I was admitted into hospital because I was having a relapse from my MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and I met one of the nurses there, who wanted me to meet a lady from a charity called Momentum. I was nervous and excited at the same time because I didn’t know what to expect. Finally, the day came to meet Bianca and she was telling me that I deserve a treat as I have been quite anti-social and a bit down, due to my illness. She announced that her charity would like to treat me and a friend to see Mamma Mia! and that really put a smile on my face for a long time.

On the 3rd November 2011, the day finally came to see the show and my best friend, Juliet and I were both so excited. My Mum said that there was a surprise also and I thought, ‘Wow the surprises keep on coming!’ We were waiting for the taxi arrive to pick my friend and I up but it wasn’t a taxi but a white limousine. I couldn’t help but to just to scream with excitement. You could tell that my Mum was so excited and almost on the verge of tears because she loved seeing me that excited to the point that I forgot MS was even there.

As my friend and I got in the limo, we were just singing along to the music we had all the way to the theatre. The great thing was my friend asked me about the MS and I just said, ‘What MS?’ You could also see that my best friend was thrilled to see me happy as she has seen me through my highs and lows.

Finally, we arrived to Mamma Mia! and as we got out of the limo, my friend and I did feel like a celebrity and a princess. When we got into the theatre, we were so excited and we had the most amazing seats. When curtain went up, I couldn’t help but feel, ‘What illness?’ and I was completely absorbed into Mamma Mia! Even though my friend and I knew all the songs, we were still amazed.

At the interval a woman came up to us saying that if we go with her and to my surprise we were going back stage to meet the cast! To step on the stage and meet the whole cast was incredible and for the cast to tell me that I was amazing was out of this world.

After that amazing feeling, we were just singing along throughout the whole show. After the show finished my friend and I were completely overwhelmed at how good it had been. I went home feeling like a princess and I would like to say thank you to Momentum for giving one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. I would like to continue to support Momentum like they have supported me!
