Isobel's Story

On the longest day of the year - 21st June - when Nikolai was diagnosed with Leukaemia, Momentum was there from the very start: Bianca came and introduced herself, offering comfort and support on that devastating day.  As the weeks and months unfolded, Momentum eased the difficult times in so many ways, from cuddles, giggles and chats, to little gifts, entertainment and short breaks away to the cabin; they were a listening ear for any member of the family in a non-patronising yet relaxed and friendly fashion.  When Nikolai received his last chemo at Kingston Hospital one day, we couldn't understand why he was suddenly in tears [whilst sitting on Bianca's lap having his monthly snuggle-up with her!].  It turned out that he was very happy to be finishing his treatment, but was devastated at the thought of not seeing his friends again!  Bianca immediately reassured him that they would always be friends and how true that is - the two of them are in regular contact by email!

We've met many other families along the way, some through the regular Momentum coffee mornings, and although their journeys may be different, one thing is certain: Bianca and her team are there for each and every child and family going through cancer treatment.
